B R I E F P O S I T I O N D E S C R I P T I O N :
 Position Summary:
AHCCCS Billing - Patient Account Representatives work in the Billing Center for Southwest Ambulance to assist in the AHCCCS Department. This individual would project the highest level of Customer Service and have an AHCCCS background. This candidate must work closely with all team members within the AHCCCS department in order to foster a strong team relationship and to ensure AHCCCS collections are accomplished accurately and in a timely manner.
This position requires confidentiality, analytical skills, knowledge of how to read Explanation of Benefits (EOB), superior customer service skills, previous billing experience for service to patients, facilities and/or insurance companies highly preferred.
This individual MUST possess the ability to work well under pressure, and handle a high volume of inbound calls in a courteous and effective manner daily. Additional attributes would be:

This is a 3 month/Part Time opportunity and will require 32 hours per week.
Estimated Duration: October - December 2009 - This is for a special project in our billing department, however could go longer than the estimated time referenced. There is always a possibility this position could go Full Time given business needs.
Essential Functions:
Ensure accurate and timely claim filing to AHCCCS payers’
Ensure accurate and timely follow up on unpaid, underpaid and denied AHCCCS claims
Ideal individual(s) must present a professional appearance and attitude at all times. This includes however is not limited to: co-workers, vendors and customers.
Communicate effectively with other departments to update them on changes to AHCCCS claims that may impact their respective area
All other duties as assigned or administered
Skills/ Requirements
Qualifications:
Experience in AHCCCS operations
Strong Microsoft Office experience with emphasis on Excel
Knowledge and understanding of AHCCCS rules and Regulations
Knowledge of AS400
Excellent Customer Service (for internal and external customers)
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
1 year medical billing experience
Typing 45 (wpm)
10 key (10,000 – 14,000 keystrokes with min 90% accuracy)
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
This position can require long periods of sitting at a computer workstation. Must be willing and able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, generally with assistance.
Cognitive/Psychosocial Requirements:
Ability to follow simple and complex written and verbal instructions
Ability to read and understand English
Accurately add, multiply, subtract, and divide whole and fractional numbers
Equipment Operated:
General Office Equipment
Working Conditions:
The work to be performed will be done in an office environment. Generally the hours will be 8-10 per day (40-50 hours per week), but may increase due to business need.
Benefits:
Part Time employees with Southwest Ambulance are not eligible for Medical benefits or paid time off. However are able to participate in our 401K program.
