B R I E F P O S I T I O N D E S C R I P T I O N :
 Southwest Ambulance is currently seeking qualified applicant for Post Bill - Medicare as a Medicare Clerk. This position requires Customer Service Skills, ability to multi-task. Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a MUST.
Description:
Contacts the payer to determine the status of a claim and takes appropriate action based on the payer’s response.
Works each denial as appropriate.
Provides or arranges for additional information needed.
Submits corrected claims or appeals
Requests a Medicare hearing, when appropriate
Bills a supplemental payor, the customer or adjusts the account.
Puts in request for appropriate adjustments, when required.
Processes refunds to Medicare and has a strong knowledge of Medicare guidelines as well as direct insurance billing.
Handles all Medicare correspondence.
Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED
Strong Microsoft Office experience with emphasis on Excel
Knowledge and understanding of Medicare rules and Regulations
Knowledge of AS400
Excellent Customer Service (for internal and external customers)
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
1 year medical billing experience
Typing 45 (wpm)
10 key (10,000 – 14,000 keystrokes with min 90% accuracy)
Physical Requirements:
This position can require long periods of sitting at a computer workstation. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds when needed and move object/materials o locations that might be up to 20 feet away.
Cognitive/Psychosocial Requirements:
Ability to follow simple and complex written and verbal instructions. Ability to read and understand English
Accurately add, multiply, subtract, and divide whole and fractional numbers.
Working Conditions:
The work to be performed will be done in an office environment. Generally the hours will be 8-10 per day (40-50 hours per week), but may increase due to business need.
