Rural/Metro Corporation, a nongovernmental emergency service organization operates a private Fire/Medical 911 center. Dispatchers make a major contribution to public safety and the community.

Essential Functions and Duties:
Daily, dispatchers are the first contact the public makes with emergency services. The dispatcher receives the 9-1-1 calls, determines the nature of the emergency, and then dispatches the appropriate emergency centers. After dispatch, the dispatcher monitors continues communication with all units when needed the dispatcher will contact and dispatch other support organizations such as law enforcement, utility companies, red cross, etc.
Skill based raises on the ability to complete 6-month training program. This is a 24-hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operation that requires 12 hours shifts and working nights/holidays/weekends.
* Must demonstrate high degree of customer service, excellent multitasking and problem solving skills.
* Also must be able to think quickly and accurately through a multitude of situations.
* Self motivated and detail oriented.
* Familiarity with medical terminology and Phoenix valley map reading is preferred.
* Must have the ability to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays.
* Must be able to speak clearly in understandable terms over the radio

Physical Requirements:
This position can require long periods of sitting at a computer workstation. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds when needed and move object/materials to locations that might be up to 20 feet away.

Cognitive/Psychosocial Requirements:
Ability to follow simple and complex written/verbal instructions with little or no supervision.
Ability to read and understand English
Accurately add, multiply, subtract, and divide whole and fractional numbers

Working Conditions:
The work to be performed will be done in an office environment.
