B R I E FP O S I T I O ND E S C R I P T I O N :
SUMMARY
Handles and dispatches all incoming calls in a swift and proper manner through the use of Communications Center systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Receive incoming telephone calls.
Channel non-emergency calls to appropriate personnel.
Dispatch vehicles to emergency and non-emergency calls.
Moment to moment decision making in regards to the dispatch of emergency and non-emergency vehicles.
Maintains telecommunication with mobile and stationary units comprising emergency service network to communicate activities of personnel, enlist services of other protective agencies, or provide alternative directions to on-scene personnel.
Control the distribution and return of issued equipment (i.e. Cellular phones, pagers, gas cards, etc.) to emergency and non-emergency personnel.
Facilitate sale of company goods and services when necessary.
Participate in training programs as required.
Prepare and complete reports stating progress, problems, and statistics for review by appropriate managers and supervisors (i.e. Transfer refusal log, ALS equipment assignment sheet, absentee reports).
Perform basic date entry.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months, related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must have knowledge of CAD system and range of software. Must have a strong background in radio communications systems. Must possess knowledge of Monroe County geography.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and statistical information and reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, and/or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong communication skills.
